I’m pretty sure these are for aerodynamic purposes when towing a large trailer, especially those that have flat fronts (like a 5th wheel).

Probably tows a fifth wheel on a regular basis. Not for downforce but to move air above the top of the trailer.

Also no domestic truck makers have 2500-series duallies. They're all 3500.
